In what amounts to an embarrassing piece of news for the Republican Party in Florida, the number of people in Broward County registered as Republicans now trails both Registered Democrats AND Registered Independents. Broward Republicans now trail that highly organized political party, affectionately known as “Other” by close to 1000 votes. See results taken as of 27 Jan 11 from the Broward SOE. In early December 2010, the Republican party had only 50 more registered voters than “other”.Unfortunately, this result for the Republican party is the culmination of a of lack of outreach and voter registration efforts in the county for years, and there is no way to spin this positively, only to say that this trend needs to be turned around immediately. The Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) is struggling with a 700,000+ voter registration deficit to the Democrat Party.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Jay Narang, the President of the largest Republican club in Broward County, Southwest Broward Republican Organization(SWBRO), has been leading the the efforts in his area of the county to help stem the Democrat voter registration tide:
“SWBRO’s Committee Chairs are now working towards developing their Project Plans for this year and will present an outline to the membership on Feb 7th. Once the plans are ready we will look to partner with organizations such as AnyStreet to aggressively pursue registration efforts. We are aware that Ms. Von Hohenzollern is working on such an initiative and we plan on discussing partnered drives towards this goal.”
Anystreet is a national grassroots organization that has recently focused it’s efforts on voter outreach and registration in the the state of Florida. With the assistance of State Committeeman and 2nd Amendment crusader Bill Bunting of Pasco County, Anystreet has managed to position it’s voter registration efforts all of the local gun shows in south Florida, especially focusing on the Fort Lauderdale Gun Show.
How much of an impact could this voter disparity could make on the 2012 elections remains to be seen, as Florida will once again become a battleground state for many key re-election bids as well as a critical state for Republicans if they are to win back the White House.
