Ozzie deFaria Plays Into Democratic Party’s Media Narrative, NRCC Dodges Issue

By Javier Manjarres

Congressional candidate Ozzie deFaria first raised questions about the integrity of his campaign when he photo-shopped a dog collar around Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s neck for one of his advertisements before stating on video that she “needed to be sent back to the pound.”  Ozzie deFaria has now double-downed on his own ignorance by unapologetically repeating the ‘pound’ statement again.(Original post on deFaria)

At the recent Southwest Broward Republican Organization (SWBRO) monthly meeting which featured deFaria as the keynote speaker, deFaria referred to Wasserman Schultz to a “dog” and that she “needed to go back to pound.”  deFaria may believe that this kind of shock-value remark will  give his campaign a boost,  but in reality it is a sheer lack of character on his part that could be used by the  Democrat Party to paint all Republicans as “extremists” and “sexists” who are unfit to represent Americans in the U.S. Congress.

Watch the short video:

deFaria’s lapses in judgement are being talked about across the state and in Washington, D.C., as political insiders and Members of Congress have scoffed at deFaria’s tactics and are expressing the same concerns that his actions play right into the Democratic Party’s  media narrative. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) placed deFaria in their ‘Young Guns’ program, but because of his actions, more members are beginning to distance themselves from the embattled congressional candidate and the race all together.

Congressman Pete Sessions, Majority Whip Eric Cantor, and Congressman Mark McCarthy did not want to comment on the matter and referred all media requests on this issue to the NRCC.  NRCC’s Regional Press Secretary Nathaniel Sillin responded to our media request in true D.C. form and probably the smartest way to deal with this embarrassing situation- he punted the ball by not answering any direct questions about deFaria.

This is a smart play by the NRCC, because if they openly distances themselves from deFaria, it is essentially admitting that they made a mistake in judgement about deFaria.  If the NRCC were to come out and defend deFaria, they make the case for the Democrats that the entire Republican Party is filled with those same extremists, misogynists and sexists.  Needless to say, the Republican Party is in quite a pickle here- it’s a lose-lose situation for them.

We posed the following question to the NRCC:

Does the NRCC approve of such rhetoric, and is this what Americans are to expect from the new breed of Republican ‘Young Guns?’

This is Nathaniel Sillin’s official NRCC response to my question:

This race is a referendum on Debbie Wasserman Shutlz’s relentless pursuit of a job-destroying tax and spend big-government agenda.  Gas prices are skyrocketing in South Florida. Rather than fight for energy independence and lower gas prices on behalf of Florida families,  Wasserman Schultz appears committed to pursue the same failed policies that only benefits the anti-job interest groups who are bankrolling Democrat campaigns.” – NRCC Spokesman Nat Sillin

It will be interesting to see if the state and local Republican Party organizations will follow suit and turn their back on deFaria were he to come knocking for their support. One Florida State legislator told the Shark Tank,”What an embarrassment, does he even think that he has a chance?”  The Broward County Republican Party (BREC) led by Richard DeNapoli is said to be quietly supporting deFaria’s campaign.

deFaria’s opponents in the Republican primary are Juan Eliel Garcia, Joe Kaufman, Gineen Bresso and Karen Harrington, who ran against Wasserman Schultz in 2010, and is considered the favorite to win the primary.

Since the NRCC refused to directly answer our questions about deFaria, what do you think about deFaria’s actions?

Whatever Wasserman Shultz gets, she rightly deserves. She is typicaly left winged, spouting her retoric and refusing to allow any opposing view to be expressed by anyone opposing her agenda. As far as the dog collar around her neck, I can’t think of a better place for it, except that it degrades dogs everywhere!

There is no need for ridiculous personal attacks like yours.
People like you are why we have so many problems today, you can’t act like an adult and are happy to sit behind the anonymity of your computer screen and insult people.
      Keep the BS to yourself.

I think Ozzy has guts and speaks the truth. He’s just what congress needs. He’s someone like the Alan West’s of the world. Don’t hold back Ozzy give it to them. Its about time we stood up and fought back..

    • Javier Manjarres March 9, 2012 at 9:25 am

He is not like Allen West. Allen West would not think to denigrate a woman, even if its ‘DWS’ Do you not see the big picture here?

  3. BREC Member March 9, 2012 at 10:42 am

This is exactly what the Democrats want us to do. They are sitting back and watching yet another strong contender self-destruct just to appease some fringe elements. There is so much more about DWS and her actions that he can go after but this is plain old stupid.

  4. BoGo March 9, 2012 at 10:58 am

I know Ozzie is new to politics, but C’mon!! He has to know that a man running against a woman has a very fine line to toe.

Remember Hillary Clinton’s Senate race debate? Her male opponent stepped out from his podium towards her waving some kind of pledge in his hand, challenging her to sign it. Hillary was painted as the damsel in distress and her opponent painted as agressive for approaching her.

Given the current narrative being pushed by the left that the Repubs have declared war on women, ozzie needs to be smarter than this.

  5. Chad March 9, 2012 at 11:08 am

This guy is running for Congress? The Republican party is done if they support someone with such a lack of political where with all

  6. Eddie Fontaigne March 9, 2012 at 11:35 am

When Democrats say and do these kind of things their fellow Democrats cheer. When Republicans do this, many of their fellow Republicans jeer at them publicly and call them stupid. You know, we could learn something from the Democrats in this area.

If someone wants to take chances and be gutsy, just get out of their way. These attacks on our own win us nothing.

    • Mario March 9, 2012 at 4:05 pm

I agree with you Eddie. I like Ozzie and do not believe that Republicans should not say anything against a fellow republican.
My last post was removed, apparently by the chief blogger.

      • Javier Manjarres March 9, 2012 at 4:12 pm

your post was not removed, whatever you posted did not register. As for you remark about R’s not saying anything about a fellow R’, well can you say Charlie Crist? If we do not call out the wrong within our party, we are no better than the Democrats.

      • NOPC June 30, 2012 at 4:41 pm

Mario ,Republicans should not say anything against a fellow republican????? Have you seen the ads that Ozzie has posted on conservative web sites bashing Karen with trite, no facts allowed BS. I mean it’s all over. There is more than that…do the research. I don’t like DWS and agree that she is vile, but to photo shop a dog collar on any woman is demeaning. This guy would be the republican version of an Anthony Wiener in my opinion.

  7. Mario March 9, 2012 at 12:50 pm

Vote for Ozzie and send him some money. He needs your vote and is the best candidate. BREC and the Tea Party do not elect candidates, we the people do.
Do your own thinking. Do not rely only on Shark Tank, a one man blog.
The video is only 29 seconds, where is the rest of it?? I saw him in person and he is the one.

    • Javier Manjarres March 9, 2012 at 4:21 pm

Please. Your deFaria Hackery is laughable. Do we need to see the rest of the video to see that his antics will hurt the whole party? The ‘one man’ blog wields more influence than you can even imagine, fact.

I remember Robert Lowry a few years ago do almost the same thing, what happened then? The Party suffered a huge embarrassment because of it.

      • Rich March 10, 2012 at 6:55 am

        Know why?
It’s because your “party” is appealing to the lowest common denominator instead of the highest.
All you read here is insults of anyone the poster disagrees with. These folks have fun insulting people from behind their computer screens, real computer warriors.

Defending Debbie again! Everybody knows you’re getting paid by Harrington through Bustamante, Javier. You got paid directly by her in the last race. Aren’t you playing into ethnic stereotypes by publishing pieces about LeMieux calling him “frenchy” and the “the frenchman”? Guess the rules don’t apply to you, right. I’m sure Gineen or Juan will be next on your hit list if they are perceived as a threat, right? The fact is you are freaking out because someone else has been recognized by the young guns and Harrington hasn’t. Everyone is onto your games. You’ll attack anyone who you consider a threat to your meal ticket Harrington, who you have openly endorsed.

    • Javier Manjarres March 9, 2012 at 4:24 pm

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, please if you only knew what the people who actually know, know. As far as getting paid, prove it? How can you prove anything? Fact is, I am not getting paid by her or anyone, dofus. LOL! As for LeMieux, is my name on the by-line? Nope.

Ozzie is done, and he doesn’t even know it yet….tune in.

    • Javier Manjarres March 9, 2012 at 4:30 pm

btw, how does it feel to have to visit and read a website you absolutely despise? You know that I own all of you clowns, ahahahaha. The BREC and all of its stooges, revolve around everything I say and do, that my friend is priceless!

Thanks for the support, happy continued ready;P

You need to ask what has the Republicans done that proves they can send anyone back to the pound. The 2010 GOP Pledge to America has not not delivered 1 Pledge yet.The GOP has voted 93% with Obama and they are already counting on winning elections ? The GOP has a Rebuke waiting and all the prep rallies are just propaganda to the sheep.

  10. Carlos March 9, 2012 at 1:29 pm

This guy might be listening a bit too much to Michael Savage. He’s a buffoon, more concerned with grabbing attention than getting elected and governing. As for the Dem castrati’s complaints, puleeezzz! Have they ever been concerned with the racist and vicious remarks of Maxine Waters or Sheila Jackson Lee, among others? Oh, I forgot, they’re the “right color” so they can spew vitriol and it’s ok since our ancestors enslaved their ancestors. Harrtington should have no problem dispatching this trainwreck in the primaries. We need a strong, disciplined leader, not a shock jock wannabe.

  11. Mercy March 9, 2012 at 4:33 pm

Why are there people on here defending this guy? He is clearly not cut out for office, if he really believes the garbage that he is saying.

  12. Mark Rackley March 10, 2012 at 1:00 pm

If anyone needs to put on a dog collar, it is ALL Republicans, but as WATCH DOGS, we must police ourselves, the personal attacks must stop. We, as conservatives have plenty to attack POLITICALLY but NOT personally. The facts are on our side people! Let’s concentrate on cutting through the liberal lies and misdirection tactics. Keep your eyes on the prize, and help expose the truth and be better than the opposition. Remember, if we loose our battle the penalty is we loose our country!

This Ozzie dude is maybe a misogynist? A real creep..snake in the grass and who is he really? Smarmy fellow, very unseemly guy….probably a closet Dem. God can we just vote for the person who can win…can stand up to all this crap and get DWS out of Broward? Stay strong Karen…..we have your back!
