Wasserman Schultz Called On To Release Travel Records

By Javier Manjarres

Once again, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is being called out by Karen Harrington, her Republican congressional opponent, to release her travel records from the time she was first appointed to be the  Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman.

Earlier this year, Karen Harrington requested that Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz release her tax returns after Wasserman Schultz had demanded that GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney release his past tax returns (see the Weekly Standard story).

In Harrington’s press release from this morning, Harrington stated that Wasserman Schultz has “refused to release the tax returns” and has “resorted to doing what she does best when asked to account for herself-ignore her critics and distract with spin.”

Harrington questioned who was really footing the bill for (Wasserman Schultz’s numerous campaign trips around the country, asking her for “full transparency and accountability”. Remember that in 2008,  President Obama campaigned on a platform of “full transparency” in government, and because of his past ‘transparent’ efforts, he received an award it. But interestingly enough, the press was not allowed to cover the awards ceremony- so much for transparency.

Here is Karen Harrington’s press release from today-

Karen Harrington Calls On Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to Release Her Travel Records

Several weeks back, we asked Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to release her tax returns after she continued to harangue Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney to release his tax returns going back decades. As expected, not only did Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz refuse to release her tax returns, Wasserman Schultz resorted to doing what she does best when asked to account for herself- ignore her critics and distract with spin.

And while Wasserman Schultz continues to use her bully pulpit as a sitting Member of Congress, she spends far more time these days campaigning across the country on behalf of President Obama and the Democratic National Committee in hopes of reassuring Democratic voters that ‘Hope and Change’ is still a viable alternative to the Republican Party’s principled message of fiscal discipline, smaller government, and greater individual liberty.

Since Debbie’s racking up the frequent flyer miles that go far beyond her usual D.C. to Fort Lauderdale hop, we’d think it’s important for everyone to know- who’s paying for Debbie’s travel expenses these days? In the spirit of full transparency and accountability to those that she’s been elected to serve, Debbie Wasserman Schultz should release her travel records and show taxpayers who’s footing the bill for her travel- beginning from when she was appointed to chair the Democratic National Committee.  Is Debbie Wasserman Schultz really as ‘transparent’ a public servant as she claims to be?  We’ll soon find out.

This is wonderful. I think congresswoman Schultz should do the right thing and acknowledge she has an opponent and respond to Karen Harrington’s request. To just ignore her is so disrespectful.

Ms. Harrinton like Shark Tank likes calling candidates out but squelched those asking questions about Marco Rubio’s charges that got for mis-handling public funds that dropped out of min in 2010.Mitt Romney, his son and campiegn manager are under investigation as we speak that are being ignored.I guess they would claim the investigator is a politcal opponent. There is no free press, only the parties media.

    • NewcastleWill June 7, 2012 at 12:19 pm

could you please cite the source that says Romney is under investigation?

      • Daniel June 7, 2012 at 1:38 pm

There are no sources,as Lightweight is just another attention-seeking propaganda-parrot. Ignore them.

    • Ape June 7, 2012 at 3:50 pm

This is the first time I heard Romney’s campaign is under investigation, can you please elaborate and your source for the above?
      or it’s just innuendo.

    Dear Mr. Manjarres
By editing comments and not indicating that the comments have been edited is extremely unethical. You have modified my comments at least twice without indicating that the comment has been edited. Why have a comment section if you don’t want them?

    • Javier Manjarres June 7, 2012 at 12:32 pm

Jeff, we have the right to modify or delete any and all comments on the Shark Tank. Any remarks that are made on this blog, that are demeaning, veiled or not, will be removed or edited. Your past posts have been derogatory, and we have either deleted them,or edited the derogatory point in the comment. You can always choose not to read blog, let alone comment.

Also, any posting of libelous websites or press releases will also be deleted. I hope I have made myself clear

      • Jeff June 7, 2012 at 1:24 pm

Your Blog, your right. I feel my comments are more grounded to reality then derogatory, but its your call. Your agenda is on your shirt sleeve. The other blog that I believe you are referring to is not as blatant and has a lot more advertising. Something to think about.

        • Javier Manjarres June 7, 2012 at 1:27 pm

What blog am I referring to, I don’t remember referring to anyone? Do you mean the Weekly Standard?

          • Jeff June 7, 2012 at 1:55 pm

Peter Schorsch’s blog. A lot of information without the drama. You have information, but it usually comes in the form of a Soap Opera. Don’t get me wrong there is entertainment value to it, that is why people read you. But a lot of people also read the National Enquirer. One other thing, almost every comment made on your site is derogatory, demeaning or libelous. So don’t go there about my comments. They just aren’t beneficial to you.

        • Daniel June 7, 2012 at 1:40 pm

Let me guess, Jeff’s comments were as “grounded in reality” as DWS is every time she opens her mouth?

Poodlehead Schultz plays by the Obama / Alinsky Rules of “No Transparency” as regards the Socialist Leftists while demanding transparency from the Right, as well as accusing the Right of crimes and corruption that they themselves are guilty of.

Too bad there isn’t a Sheriff that would act on a “Citizens Arrest” – to arrest these politicians for their High Crimes.

  6. TR June 7, 2012 at 12:56 pm

Wasserman Schultz is nothing more than an Obama puppet and a corrupt con artist. Obama has “leaked on purpose” Israel’s attacks in regards to Iran and the Jewish Community should know that Schultz and Obama are marxist advancing a RADICAL AGENDA.

Democrats play by a different set of rules. They demand perfection from the Republican Party and are backed up by our free press who continues to push the Democrats socialist agenda. Americans need to
ignore our free press and starting thinking for ourselves. Are we better off today than 4 years ago? NO NO NO and that’s why we should all stand together as a well informed electorate and deny this administration to continue the downward spiral of our great country. The lady with the “angry hair” does not repect the rules of complete vetting. Karen Harrington would be a better representative for the state of Florida. VOTE A STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN TICKET

    • Ape June 7, 2012 at 3:58 pm

Even if we stand together and try to vote them out, what about all the illegal votes? that are for the Democrats, that needs to be purge first, and the DOJ is in the way.

    Wasserman will win again.
Several years ago I witnessed (by accident) when somebody was trying to convince small group of illegals to go to vote. They agreed.
I reported this to Supervisor Of Elections.
I’ve got the answer- “we can do nothing about it. Voting is based on an HONOR system.
Conclusion- there are idiots and crooks.
    Choose the party.

This despicable woman, not only she is ugly on the outside, but she is even uglier on the inside. She has no personality at all and her ignorance on everything that is not democrats’ politics and leftist alignment, is very obvious. She speaks like a parrot repeating words that have no truth in them. She will certainly be a one term congresswoman.

This will be her third. Let’s hope not.

Those are PUBLIC documents – she works as a public servant. All records including travel, correspondence, communication, etc. as a public employee are open to the public, the media, anyone who wants to read them. She MUST turn them over and if not a subpoena can be issued.

  17. Sapphire June 7, 2012 at 11:00 pm

There should be term limits with all politicians. This way, the cheating, lying, bribing can be over by the time their term expiration date. I am so sick of these politicians who want the power forever. We need to get rid of the socialists, communists and Rhinos who make believe they are conservatives. Does anyone out there have an opinion about Wisconsin’s vistory?

    • Jeff June 8, 2012 at 9:06 am

The recall election in Wisconsin was not the right thing to do. Once someone wins an election, unless they commit a crime, they need to serve their term. Once the term expires the voters should decide if he or she should return. When people ask me about Rick Scott and what I think of him. I tell them he is a conservative and he is running the government as such. If they don’t think he is doing a good job, they should vote for someone else in 2014. The whole notion to ridicule an elected official for their voting actions is wrong. Blame the voters for their voting record, they are voting the will of the people.

When are going to show how much karen Harrington is paying you for being her personal hit man? We do know that you got at least 5k from her campaign manager but we also know that you have received more monies since then. So if you are asking Debbie to show her records why not do the same for you and Karen, all of it, both sets of books.
