During his address to the Forum Club in Palm Beach, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio joked about the fact that while was he on vacation, he was surprised to see four missed calls from Republican Presidential nominee, Mitt Romney. Rubio then called Romney back and was told that he had made a VP selection and that the junior senator from Florida would be pleased with it.Rubio said he was relieved with the decision, as he had just booked a four day cruise with his family.
Rubio was on Romney’s “shortlist”, and Romney himself said that Rubio was indeed vetted for the job.

But about a week ago, there were rumors circulating among Rubio’s friends and close associates in Miami that Rubio did not submit all of the requested documentation as part of Romney’s VP vetting process. The speculation is that Rubio did not want certain information about his past to make its way into the hands of consultants who could possibly hold it against him in the future.
There is no love lost between Team Rubio and some of the consultants currently working with the Romney campaign, namely Stuart Stevens, who worked for former Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Rubio’s 2010 senatorial rival.
