Governor Rick Scott Receives Embroidered Yamaka

This has got to be a first in anyone’s book. While touring a Miami grocery store this past Friday, Florida Governor Rick Scott was approached by two Rabbis’ who gifted him with an embroidered “Governor Rick Scott Yamaka. Scott was helping stock the store shelves as part of his ‘Let’s Get to Work’  initiative, when he was approached with the gift.

Later that night, Scott was attending a Shabbat dinner  in North Miami, and we can only assume that he was sporting his new Yamaka.

For those of you smarty pant Jews who think that we misspelled Yarmulke, look here. Yarmulke, Kippa, Kippot and Yamaka are all accepted descriptive terms.

Here is a pictorial of Governor Rick Scott ‘Getting to work’ at the Sedano’s supermarket in Miami.

I love Governor Scott!! It’s nice to have a Governor who has actually worked for a living and knows what the “working man’s” live is like.

Yes, the Governor can teach the workers how to commit Medicare fraud on a large scale!!

When it comes to fraud, Gov. Scott is a piker compared to your pResident.

“Yamaka”? I think you mean “yamulke”. It is a Jewish hat, not a Japanese motorcycle.

    JD: The spelling is yarmulke..

Great job, Gov. Scott. Listen up disgruntled Floridians, we have a Governor who is trying very hard to do what is best for Florida. Having Charlie (the chameleon) Crist back in Talahassee would be a nightmare for our State. We don’t need another nightmare since we already have one in Washington.

“Yarmulke” represents the correct pronunciation. “Yamaka” represents a very common (slight) mispronunciation. It’s a Yiddish word. “Kippa” is OK as a represenation of the Hebrew word, “kippah” is better, “kippot” is plural.

    As if normal people care.

Thanks for the clarification. We used the ‘Yiddish’ version because of the humor behind him receiving the ‘Yarmulke’ in a grocery store. Get the funny here?
